Team training camp in Bendigo
Saturday, 9 June 2007
Whilst Sydney and north was flooding, the team visited Bendigo for some technical training using some of the excellent local maps. The day started at Old Quartz Hill, site of the 2004 Middle distance world champs race. It was a really cold start to the day and Sydney sider Paul used some interesting techniques to stay warm. It was a pleasure to see some water and green in the region. At last. We can only hope that the rain continues.
Sunday we were very happy to be joined by AJ, Timmy and Carolyn Jackson. The fun began with a mass start in some detailed, hilly, rocky terrain with close racing. After a stop at the Beechworth bakery (Bendigo edition) we moved on to the flat lands. More interesting courses set by coach Kay kept us entertained. Tomorrow sees more fun out at Maryborough.
Funnily enough our legs were getting tired by Monday and another chilly morning didn't help things in that regard. But four courses later on Mosquito Flat and Bulls Gully Wells seemed to sort us out. Or at least get us ready for a baked potato for lunch at Sue's Café. Many thanks to Kay for organising the maps and courses.
