Czech MBO 5-days in Pilsen starts Wednesday
Monday, 2 July 2007
The Czech 5-days starts on Wednesday in Pilsen with a middle distance race. Over 450 riders are entered with 74 in the elite men's class. Elite women have 37 riders, both classes with riders from many countries. This race will be one of the most competitive races this year outside of the world champs. The race format is middle distance, long distance, a sprint and then two more middle distance races, the last one being a chasing start. So it promises to be a very exciting week. Details of the event can be found here. MBO in the Czech republic is as popular, perhaps more popular than foot orienteering. The huge following is largely due to the number of forests which are so well suited to MBO, with many tracks of different types. A sample map from the coming 5 days is shown below. These areas are said to be similar to the world champs areas.
