Aussie on the podium
Sunday, 22 July 2007
Today was day 6 of the Polish 7 day and another middle distance. All the Aussies put in solid rides with Kay coming home in about 54 mins - about 12 minutes off the winning time, I got back in 61 mins, Darvo in 54 mins, and Alex ripped back in 51 mins - the fastest time by over a minute. Alex had quite a few fastest splits so it looks like he has good leg speed at the moment. Today's map below.
Quite a few of the best route choices were off the main roads or the tracks completely, so it was a bit different to most of the MTBO events back home. In fact often the best route choice was to follow the red line. In the afternoons we have been live audio streaming the Tour de France to pass the time. Having been beaten in todays race by the others I thought I could get one back when I suggested Kloden would do well in today's TT stage whereas Darvo thought Cadel would do better. Surely I was on a winner here so we put an ice cream on it. It didn't help that Kloden came off, but what an effort from Cadel,.. oh well, at least he's is now looking good for the GC !
