Ladek Zdroj - Euro meeting
Saturday, 28 July 2007
The team is coming together in Ladek Zdroj, which lies in the Polish mountains near the border with Czech republic. Dave Wood and Tony Clark arrived today in time for the first race. Thor Egerton is due in a couple of hours. Today's race was a middle distance race. And what a difference from the last weeks we've had in Poland. Today we climbed more in 50 minutes than we did the whole time over the past 10 days. Not surprisingly for a mountains spa town, it's rather hilly. And today was so much fun to ride up big hills again.
The town is quite special. The oldest building dates back to 1498. That is if you don't count the ruined castle on the top of the hill. Which I guess is much older. We are yet to sample the waters of the spa, but I'm sure that will happen soon. Pictures of this delightful place are posted in the gallery. Racing was a bit shakey for us today. A mixture of getting used to hills, and for the newcomers, just getting used to Euro orienteering. Let's just say we showed potential!
