Final training camp
Saturday, 4 August 2007
I write this entry from Telc, a world heritage listed Czech town. No photos yet sorry. The card reader here isn't compatible with my camera's memory stick! This week has been a combination of resting and training. Really it's a fine tuning week. We can't get any fitter, faster or thinner. We can only get our navigation working better. Which is the key to success anyhow. At the moment we're staying in a very small village pension in the heart of the Czech country-side. It's a really fun place to stay. Surrounded by real agriculture - fields of barley, potatoes and corn, chickens in the yards of houses and a piggery on the edge of the village. It's on one of the most popular cycle routes across Czech so a few pensions are set up for cyclists and are full at the moment, being Czech holidays. The number of bikes one sees over here is quite stunning. The whole of the Czech Republic is covered by on and off-road bike routes, which are marked and go from village to village. It's a great place for cycling holiday. Tomorrow we move to the official WOC accommodation. It will be another very easy day. Just a model event and lazing around. The programme for next week is: Monday - Sprint race; Tuesday - middle distance; Wednesday -Long distance qualification; Thursday - rest day; Friday - Long distance; Saturday - relay (and banquet).
