Please don't make me laugh
Thursday, 6 July 2006
While Finland is a really lovely place to ride, it has been a real struggle for me. Those rough, rocky and rooty single tracks are a real challenge with broken ribs. It is still very sore to laugh, sneeze or cough. This can be a bit of a hazard when the 5 boys start clowning around. The team has been doing some great training on some nice areas, although some of the maps are foot-O, so they can be pretty hard to read while riding.
I managed to join the library today and borrow some English books. I have run out of books I brought from Australia, as I very kindly donated my telly to Darvo and David, so all I have to do is read (they keep on telling me about all the good films they have watched).
They went go-karting today (I got to watch), and put in some pretty scorching lap times, with David clocking the fastest lap. Unfortunately, he then ran into the back of two others who had crashed, and his leg got in the middle. Not too much damage, but pretty sore. I am really looking forward to the champs next week, but feel in no way able to go hard, so I just hope I can make few mistakes (not easy in tricky Finland). Carolyn Jackson
